Hailed as a “bass virtuoso” by Alt Press and a “powerhouse musician” by Afropunk, April Kae is redefining what it means to be a modern artist. A genre-blurring bassist, singer, songwriter, and producer, she fuses alternative rock, funk, and pop into a bass-driven sound that audiences love. With millions of views across social media and high-profile recognition from the industry’s most influential figures, April’s impact is only growing.
Her commanding presence and raw musicianship have landed her on the covers of Bass Player Magazine, Guitar Girl Magazine, and KERRANG. And she has been featured in Vogue, Nylon, LadyGunn, and many others. Further cementing her status as one of the most exciting musicians to watch, artists like SZA, Willow Smith, Jaden Smith, Questlove, Talib Kweli, Flea, and Chaka Khan have all recognized April’s work.
April first gained widespread attention with her viral bass covers of Cardi B’s "Up" and Tame Impala’s “The Less I Know the Better.” The videos amassed millions of views, propelling her into the spotlight. She turned that momentum into a thriving career, growing an audience of over 1.5 million fans across Instagram and TikTok and securing brand partnerships with Nike, Fender, Dove, Clairol, White Claw, MasterCard, and Meta.
In 2023, she joined Fever 333 as their bassist, bringing her signature sound to some of the biggest rock festivals in the world. She has performed at Download Festival, Rock am Ring / Rock im Park, Rock Fest, Hellfest, Jera On Air, and Sick New World. That same year, she made history as part of the first rock band to perform at Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Office.
April has also collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Kirk Douglas of The Roots, Latin pop icon Ricardo Arjona, and singer-songwriter Caroline Kingsbury. She has also worked with B00TY and rapper/writer Pardison Fontaine (Cardi B, Kanye West, Megan Thee Stallion), further showcasing her ability to move seamlessly across genres.
April’s relationship with Fender has been a defining component of her career. She has starred in major campaigns, including the Fender Vintera II Series (2023) and The All-New Player II Series (2024), where she performed a powerful rendition of The Kinks’ "All Day and All of the Night"alongside Julien Baker, DIIV, and Wallows. Now, she’s taking that partnership a step further, working with Fender to develop and release her own signature bass.
Refusing to gatekeep her knowledge, April wholeheartedly believes there’s room for everyone in the music world. She recently launched Bass Lessons with April, an online school designed to help her fans go from music lovers to empowered musicians.
A rising leader in the industry, April has become a sought-after speaker. She regularly appears on panels discussing gender representation in music and the impact of social media. She has been honored with the Women’s Worth Award, named one of Distorted Sound’s Five Influential Women Leading Rock Music, attended the GRAMMYs twice, and was invited as Meta’s guest at the 2024 Variety Tastemakers Awards.
As an artist, April is set to release self-produced original music throughout 2025. Her sound is evolving, drawing from her deep roots in alternative, punk, and funk while pushing into uncharted territory. Alongside her solo releases, she will be performing with Fever 333 at all three Warped Tour stops.
